TJC was formed at Oberlin College, where the band led worship at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. As the original band members migrated to the east coast for graduate school, they connected with other musicians at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music who shared their passions and commitments. The group continued to grow and musically develop in New Haven, CT, having opportunities to write and produce services for a multitude of churches in New England, the National Council of Churches, the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, Trinity Wall Street, and St. Paul’s Chapel in NYC. TJC has led workshops and worship services at conferences for clergy and laity, offered weekly outreach programs for local youth (come check out our Saturday afternoon Jam Sessions!), and has given musical and educational presentations on jazz worship at the Yale University, Harvard University, and Wesleyan University, among other institutions. We are open to any and all forms of exploring jazz worship and love to learn from the diverse and profound communities that invite us to share our music.
